Cuttack: Amid the rising cases of COVID-19 in Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre (ARHCC) and SCB Medical College and Hospital, Odisha government has decided to conduct antigen test of patients in both the hospitals from next week.

Additional chief secretary (health) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra today held a discussion with the authorities of the hospitals to tackle the COVID-19 situation in the city.

As per reports, the antigen test of patients will begin from July 7 in both the hospitals. Besides, disinfection of both the hospitals will be done in phased manner.

Meanwhile, people have been advised not to visit the OPD of two hospitals apart from the City hospital and the Sishu Bhawan medical unless emergency as new admissions to these hospitals will be allowed only after antigen test of all the admitted patients.

Antigen test will help detect the novel-Coronavirus within 10-30 seconds of testing. Both the patients at the SCB and the AHRCC will be tested along with the new patients visiting the hospital. The test will also be conducted at the Sishu Bhawan and the City hospital," said Jayanta Panda, Technical spokesperson of Odisha Health department.

As positive cases have also been detected from private hospitals, a decision to conduct antigen test in those facilities will also be taken soon, said Panda adding that all the necessary measures are being taken to contain the spread of COVID-19.
