Bhubaneswar: With the COVID19 situation in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack showing no significant improvement, the Odisha government has ordered that all its offices in the twin cities with function with 50% staff in the month of October. Besides, all State govt offices will remain closed on Saturdays as well.

An order in this connection issued on Wednesday by the State General Administration and Public Grievance Department read, "All departments of the State Government and Sub-ordinate offices in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack shall function with 50% strength of employees (all staff including Group-A Officers) during the month October 2020 and ensure that the office work does not suffer. All state government offices throughout the state will remain closed on Saturdays."

"The Departments / Heads of Offices in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack may decide the manner of selection of employees who will attend office. However, the essential offices/services such as Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) and OSDMA offices, police, fire services, health services, municipal services etc. shall function in full strength," the order stated.

According to the order, all precautionary measures issued by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 shall be strictly followed by the departments as well as the employees. In case of detection of any COVID case among the office employees, the concerned office will have to follow the protocol issued by the government.

The officers/staff must be available to attend to any office work of urgent nature at short notice and should be available on telephone at all times, the order mentioned.
