Bhubaneswar: A Class IV girl from Sunabeda of Koraput district in Odisha has brought laurels for the State by winning gold medal in a national-level painting competition.
The eight-year-old girl, Iva Ipshita Tete emerged winner of the competition organised by a private company and received a gold medal and Rs 75,000 cash prize.
According to sources, as many as 15 lakh children participated in the competition and candidates were initially screened on the basis of the paintings they sent for the competition. The shortlisted children later participated in the final competition organised in Goa.
Ipshita’s parents, teachers and other students of the school expressed happiness for her achievement.
Sharing her experience about the competition, an elated Ipshita said, “They asked me to draw a painting of my choice in five minutes and again asked me to draw something in 30 second. I made a fruit basket. I would like to make good paintings in future and make my sir proud.”
“To make parents happy is the biggest prize one can win,” she added.
"This experience is amazing and surprising. There are no words to express the excitement. I would like to tell the children in the society that whatever you take up in life, do it with perfection,” said Ipshita’s mother Nili Namita Xess.
