Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday reduced the number of persons allowed to attend marriage functions to 200 from the earlier 500 while slashing funeral gatherings to 50.
The organisers of these occasions will have to provide masks to guests not wearing the same. The order will come into effect from March 26, 2021, said the State Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) in a letter.
"The marriage and related gatherings shall be allowed with a ceiling of 200 persons instead of 500 persons and funeral/ last rites related gatherings shall be allowed with 50 persons instead of 500 persons subject to the following conditions", the SRC letter read.
In closed spaces, the attendance shall be a maximum of 50% of the hall capacity subject to the above ceilings.
In open spaces, keeping the size of the ground/ open space, appropriate number of persons subject to the above ceilings so as to ensure maintenance of the prescribed physical distancing norms.
Besides, there are mandatory provisions for wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and provision of thermal scanning, and use of hand wash or sanitizer. The Commissionerate Police already issued strict guidelines for Dola Melan and Holi celebrations in the millennium city of Cuttack.
The host of the marriage /funeral function shall make necessary arrangements for checking at the entry point and ensure wearing of masks by the guests/ others during the entire duration of their participation. The host shall make arrangements to provide masks to those who have not come with appropriate masks.
All Collectors, Superintendents of Police, Municipal Commissioners, Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have been directed to ensure the implementation of the guidelines.
“Any person found violating this order shall be punished under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act,2005 and other relevant laws,” the SRC added.
