Malkangiri: Director General Police (DGP) Abhayon Sunday visited the new BSF camp set up at Gorasetu in Swabhiman Anchal in the district and expressed immense satisfaction after taking stock of the security scenario in the Maoist-hotbed area.

Just after his visit to the new BSF camp, he held discussions with other top officials of police and BSF on the strategies to be adopted to ensure a Maoists-free Malkangiri.

"I am very delighted that a BSF camp has been set up in Gorasetu which was a long standing demand of the Jawans and locals. I extend my sincere gratitude to the BSF jawans who are working tirelessly despite every odd to ensure security for the common people. I am optimistic about more development works in Gorasetu area" DGP Abhay said.

The locals have been demanding more welfare projects in their areas, but the Maoists were interrupting development works. "I believe that government would take measures for a fast-paced development in the tribal pockets. The anti-Maoist operation will be intensified with effective coordination between Odisha police and its Andhra Pradesh counterparts,” he added.

The DGP later distributed books to the school children, cloths and blankets to the local people.

The Maoists had been posing obstacles in the welfare activities by unleashing reign of terror.

However, the bad days have gone and better time is approaching for the people, he added.
