Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Friday reported its lowest single-day spike of 2138 fresh Covid-19 cases for the first time in over a month and a half. With this, the positive caseload in the State reached 3959712 today which included 24457 and 238535 recoveries so far.

Similarly, 15 persons succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours taking the State's death count to 1102 in the State.

Of the new cases, 1251 patients are from quarantine, while 887 are local contact cases. Only five districts of the State reported a surge of over 100 cases. Khordha district recorded its record low of 361 new cases followed by Cuttack (156), Angul (151), Sundergarh (137) and Mayurbhanj (119), informed the State I&PR Department.


The Health department said while two each deaths were reported from Cuttack, Khordha, Nabarangpur and Sambalpur districts, one each death was recorded in Sundergarh, Puri, Kendrapara, Jharsuguda, Baegarh and Bhadrak. The details of the cases are mentioned below:

  • A 65-year old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes.
  • A 60-year old male of Bhubaneswar.
  • A 56-year old male of Bhadrak district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
  • A 63-year old male of Bargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  • A 47-year old male of Cuttack who was also suffering from CAD & Diabetes.
  • A 30-year old male of Cuttack who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  • A 60-year old male of Jagatsinghpur.
  • A 62-year old male of Jharsuguda who was also suffering from CVA, Diabetes & Hypertensions.
  • An 18-year old male of Kendrapara district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
  • A 70-year old male of Nabarangpur district.
  • A 46-year old male of Nabarangpur district.
  • A 74-year old male of Puri district.
  • A 60-year old male of Sambalpur who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  • A 45-year old male of Rourkela who was also suffering from Diabetes.
  • A 60-year old male of Sambalpur district.
