Bhubaneswar: A bus owner in Odisha was slapped a fine of Rs 5.8 lakh under the new Motor Vehicle (MV) Act on Wednesday for plying the vehicle without valid stage carriage permit and other necessary documents.

As per the information shared by Regional Transport Office (RTO)- II, the bus bearing registration no- OD10F0409 plying from Koraput to Bhubaneswar was detained by the enforcement wing of the RTO-II at Khandagiri here this morning.

The bus owned by one Sneharekha Padhy of Pujariput in Koraput district had a pending MV tax from May 1,2019 to October 3, 2020 amounting to Rs 5,66,981.

Besides, Rs 5,000 was added for plying the bus without registration and fitness certificate while Rs 10,000 was charged for using the vehicle without invalid permit conditions taking the total amount of fine to Rs 5,81,981.
