Boudh: A private bus in Odisha was on Thursday challaned probably the highest ever fine of Rs 6.72 lakh for violating various regulations under the amended Motor Vehicles Act -2019.

The incident reportedly happened at Landibandh in Boudh district. As per reports, the challan was issued to a bus named ‘Minar’ plying between Bhubaneswar and Boudh.

The owner of the bus, Tallat Parween from Badagad, Brit Colony in Bhubaneswar was fined the exorbitant amount of Rs 6,72,445 on multiple charges of plying without registration, without fitness certificate, invalid permit, without insurance and nonpayment of MV tax from March 01, 2018 to March 01, 2020.

Fines included Rs. 5000 for plying without registration and fitness certificate, Rs 10,000 for violating permit conditions and Rs 2,000 for operating without insurance among others.

The driver of the bus was reported to be one Rabindranath Sahu from Phulbani in Kandhamal district. The bus has been seized by the RTO and parked at the Regional Transport office at Boudh.
