Nuapada: Amid the rising cases of crimes against women in Odisha, two girls were critically injured after being stabbed multiple times by a youth in full public view at Boden Bazaar road in the district.

Both the girls have been admitted to Boden hospital in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, police have detained the attacker and further investigation into the case is underway.

It is pertinent to mention here that according to the latest report released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Odisha remained at the second spot to have witnessed the most number of cases related to molestation of women.

The NCRB report said a total of 11,318 women were molested in the State in 2019.

Similarly, the State had witnessed seven girl children kidnapped and five girls gone missing every day in 2018.

The NCRB report 2018 had put the recovery rate of missing children in Odisha at mere 32.6 per cent, second lowest in country. The rate count dropped further in 2019 to mere around 19 per cent, revealed the provisional data with State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB).
