Bhubaneswar: In a bid to provide some respite to power consumers in the state, the state government on Wednesday announced that there would be no power failure during this summer.
Speaking to reporters, Chief Secretary Bijay Patnaik said, there won’t be any load shedding this summer as the state is efficiently managing the electricity supply due to the proper channeling of water in the dams and reservoirs in the state.
The state gets 700 MW power from Hydro Power Grid Corporation and another 850 MW of power from National Thermal Power Corporation. At present, the rest of energy requirement is being fulfilled by the central grid. Depending on requirements, provisions to channelise power from CGP and IPP will be made in future.
The power companies have been informed about the decision of the state government and have been asked to give reasons in case of a power failure.
