Rourkela: In wake of the resurgence in Coronavirus pandemic, the National Institute of Technology (NIT)- Rourkela has decided to conduct their forthcoming semester examinations through online mode.
The development comes after students of the institute protested the administration's plan to hold end semester examinations through offline mode despite the spurt in Covid-19 infections.
NIT-Rourkela stated in a notification that the institute will not be responsible for any kind of internet problem to appear end-semester examinations in online mode. The schedule of the examination will be announced in advance.
Earlier, the premier technical institute had issued a notification stating that semester examinations in offline mode will be held in two phases from April 5 to July 29.
A total of four Covid-19 cases have been detected in the institute this month triggering panic among the students.
On the other hand, Rourkela ADM Aboli Sunil Naravane emphasised on increasing testing and strict enforcement of Covid-19 guidelines in the institute.
"We have increased the number of testing. Covid-19 guidelines are also being enforced strictly in the Institute. There is no need to press the panic button as the number of positive cases is still in single digit," said Naravane.
