Bhubaneswar/Kalahandi: One Maoist was killed today during a heavy gun battle between the district voluntary force (DVF) personnel and the ultras in K Gaon Chudapahad forest under Golamunda police limits here.
Confirming the news, IGP south-western range Yashwant Jethwa said, “Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Kalahandi SP Brajesh Kumar Rai had launched a combing operation in the forest since today morning.”
The security personnel found a Maoist cadre’s body in naxal uniform and seized a sophisticated Insas rifle apart from kit bags used by the rebels from the spot, Jethwa added.
Till the filing of this report, the search and combing operation was going on in the area.
