Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday constituted a High Power Committee for making necessary recommendations regarding reservation of seats for students of government High Schools in Engineering and Medical Colleges in the State.

This comes after the State Cabinet on December 28 last year proposed reservation for students who passed from government schools for admissions into various medical and engineering colleges.

As per senior officials, the High Power Committee will be headed by Justice A.K. Mishra (Chairperson), retired Judge of Orissa High Court.

Other members of the Committee include

1. Prof. Ashok Kumar Das, Former Vice Chancellor of Utkal University and Former Head of the Laser and Plasma Technology Division at BARC

2. Prof.(Dr.) C.B.K. Mohanty, Director, Medical Education and Training, Odisha - Member

3. B.S. Poonia, IAS, Chairman, Council of High Secondary Education, Odisha - Member

4. G. Reghu, IAS, Director, Technical Education and Training, Odisha – Member

5. A.K. Nayak, OAS, Joint Secretary to Government, SD&TE Department - Member Convenor

The Committee will recommend reservation of seats for the students of Government High Schools in the Engineering and Medical Courses of the State.
