Nuapada: In a major breakthrough, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans busted a Maoist camp in Patadaraha forest near Bhainsamundi village under Boden Police Limits in this district on Sunday and seized huge cache of arms and ammunition.

Acting on tip-off, CRPF personnel launched a combing operation in the forest and seized five rifles, one pistol, 33 detonators, three rifle barrels and other incriminating materials being used by the Maoists, said CRPF officials.

Earlier in a joint operation on October 14, Chhattisgarh Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had raided a Maoist Camp at Dantewada of Chhattisgarh near Malkangiri border and seized huge amount of Maoist articles including arms and ammunition.

The security personnel had raided the camp and seized a pistol, arms, ammunition and other articles. However, the ultras fled the spot.

According to sources, the Maoists were staying in the temporary camp for last three-four days and planning for a big ambush, which was foiled by the police action.

Similarly on October 4, security forces had busted a Maoist camp during a combing operation inside Gandhamardhan reserve forest under Khaprakhol police limits in Bolangir district.

Acting on a tip-off on the Left Wing Extremist activity in the cut-off area, District Voluntary Force (DVF) and SOG jawans had launched a combing operation to trace the Maoist camp.

An exchange of fire had occurred when the rebels initiated the attack sensing presence of the security personnel in the area and the security personnel also retaliated, however there was no report of any casualty from either side in the gunfight.

During the exchange of fire, the rebels had managed to escape while the security personnel seized huge cache of explosives, weapons and literature used by the ultras in the training camp.
