Bhubaneswar: The Home Secretary U.N. Behera on Monday said that if the Maoists resort to violence, then the government shall take action in accordance with the law.
This statement comes during the bandh called by the Maoists to protest the death of a rebel in the custody of Ganjam police.
There was little impact of the bandh in urban areas, whereas state-run bus service was suspended in some districts.
Earlier, Maoist leader in–charge of western Orissa Satrughan Biswal alais Mangu was arrested from near the railway station in Bargarh. The police also seized a country-made 9mm pistol with six rounds of live ammunition, some Maoist literatures, Rs 54,550 of various denominations, a mobile phone, two letters written in Hindi and English addressed to Maoist cadres, one small pocket diary with telephone numbers of different cadres.
