Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, Commissionerate Police nabbed five suspected Highway-robbers allegedly involved in many loot incidents in the recent past.

The news came at a time when the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are grappling with a steep rise in robbery and snatching incidents.

The five-member gang, whose modus operandi was to target unsuspecting commuters late in the night, was reportedly involved in many loot and snatching incidents in the Capital city.

Sudhakar Nayak, a resident of VSS Nagar area whose son was allegedly attacked by that gang, said, “One of the gang members had brutally attacked my son on September 17.”

Similarly, Biswajit Swain, a youth who was robbed by the same gang said, “I was followed and robbed at knifepoint by them on September 22. They took my laptop and mobile. I am so relieved that the police have recovered my lost items.”

Stolen jewellery worth Rs 10 Lakh, three two-wheelers, a laptop and a sharp weapon has been recovered from the gang members.
