Berhampur: Setting an example for others to follow, the collector of Ganjam district in Odisha went out of his way to work with farmers in a paddy field.

According to sources, Ganjam district collector Vijay Amruta Kulange recently visited Bharasa village of Mathura panchayat under Khalikote block to review status of cultivation work for release of financial assistance under the National Food Security Act.

However, while conversing with the local farmers engaged in plantation of paddy saplings, the collector shocked everyone when he himself rolled up his sleeves to get his hands dirty in the field.

The IAS officer exchanged tips on better output and other advantages of row plantation techniques and also planted many saplings. Several other officials accompanying the Collector also planted saplings in the farmland.

The incident came to light after a video of the episode went viral on social media. The efforts of the collector have received praises from several quarters of the society.
