Bhubaneswar: A lady sub-inspector has tested positive for COVID-19, informed Khurda district Excise Superintendent Prasanna Acharya on Sunday.

As per Acharya, the lady sub-inspector from Keonjhar district was supposed to join duty at Excise Superintendent’s office in Bhubaneswar a few days back. However, she came to complete the formalities at the office yesterday.

“Though the lady sub-inspector did not have any COVID-19 symptoms, we had sent her back after she informed that due to cold and fever she was not able to join earlier,” said Acharya.

Sources said that the lady sub-inspector was posted in Sambalpur and was recently transferred to Bhubaneswar. The sub-inspector has now admitted to a COVID hospital in Keonjhar.

“The swab of the sub-inspector was collected and the report came positive for COVID-19 yesterday. As per protocol, we had closed the office yesterday and a massive sanitation drive will be carried out tomorrow,” Acharya added.
