Kendrapara: An act of promptness and generosity by Kendrapara SP Sandeep Sampad Madkar, who helped save the life of a critically injured accident victim in the district, has garnered praises from all and sundry.

According to sources, at around 2 PM on Tuesday when Sampad was on his way to Tantiapala area, he saw a youth bleeding profusely and lying on the road after having met with an accident. The SP immediately stopped his vehicle and rushed the youth, identified as Manoranjan Nath of Kathiapada village, to nearby Pattamundai hospital in his own vehicle.

The senior police official's humanitarian gesture has received much appreciation from the locals.

Last Friday, Havildar Narendranath Soren, working as in-charge of Kendrapara town outpost, earned accolades for rescuing three children from a car driven by their father in an inebriated condition and driving them home himself. Soren stopped the car for rash driving near old bus stand Chhak in Kendrapara town and found that the man behind the steering wheel was under influence of alcohol, risking all their lives.

Seeing three children in the back seat, Soren himself drove the car and safely dropped the kids at their home in Balagandi area of the town. Their father was however arrested and his driving licence also has been suspended, police said.

Havildar Soren has been rewarded with a token of monetary assistance along with appreciation at Jajanga-based SP office.
