Bhubaneswar: In a bid to provide a hassle-free stay, the Odisha government has asked State Hotel and Restaurant Association and other such local bodies to make arrangements to provide accommodation to the candidates appearing JEE (Main) & NEET (UG) examination.

In a letter to the chairman of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Odisha, presidents of Hotel Association of Puri, Sambalpur and Rourkela, Odisha Tourism director Sachin R Jadhav asked them to keep open their hotels for lodging and boarding purposes of the guardians and students.

“In view of the forthcoming JEE (Main) and NEET 2020 Examinations scheduled to be held from 1st to 6th September 2020 and 13th September 2020 respectively, all local hotels and lodges existing in different locations in the State are instructed to keep open their hotels for lodging and boarding purposes of the guardians and students, if they opt for it on the production of Admit Card on payment basis,” the letter read.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has come up with special arrangements for the smooth conduct of entrance examination during the pandemic.

BMC has made accommodation arrangements for 16,000 candidates at eight places, while the entrance examination will be held at six examination centres in the city. The civic body has decided to deploy mobile, police and sanitising teams at the examination centres.

Moreover, in a coordination meeting, the BMC officials have decided to deploy a COVID-19 observer at each accommodation facilities.

“We have made a detailed plan for the smooth conduct of the examinations. ADM, Sub-collectors, JDC, Additional Commissioner will supervise the situation,” BMC commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said.

Meanwhile, the district administrations are making necessary arrangements to provide transportation facilities to the candidates appearing the entrance tests and their parents.


Notably, as many as 37,000 students will appear the JEE mains examination at 26 examination centres at seven cities in the State.  The National Testing Agency is scheduled to conduct JEE examinations between September 1and 6 and the NEET on September 13.
