JEE Aspirant With Coronavirus Positive Report Barred From Exam
Berhampur: A JEE (Main) aspirant who was tested positive for coronavirus was debarred from appearing in the examination today at a centre in Ganjam district of Odisha.
According to sources, the candidate reached the examination wearing PPE kit as per earlier instruction. However, the district administration did not allow the student to take the test in the last moment.
“The candidate arrived at the examination centre wearing PPE kit and proper sanitisation was conducted. But at the last moment, we received a notice that the candidate will not be allowed for the JEE (Main) examination. If the candidate was allowed, measures put in place in view of Covid-19 would go awry. Besides, there will be fear of infection among other candidates,” said Sunil Sahoo, controller of examination at Roland Institute of Technology.
“As per earlier instruction, all arrangements were made for the Covid-19 positive candidate to take the examination. Isolation lab was set up where the candidate was supposed to write the examination. An invigilator was also supposed to be deployed in the isolated room to keep a tab on the candidate. However, we received the message in the last moment that the candidate will not be allowed to take the examination,” Sahoo said.
“A special examination will be conducted for the Covid-19 positive candidates all over India. So, there is no need to panic and candidates will not have to lose one precious year,” Sahoo said.
The district sub-collector also informed that arrangements will be made to facilitate examination for the candidate in the next phase.
