Balasore: The inspector-in-charge of Balasore Town Police Station, Sarojini Nayak is allegedly missing since July 1. The lady cop is ‘absconding’ since the arrest of a Sub-Inspector on the charges of corruption, Balasore Vigilance SP Santosh Kumar Mishra said.

According to Mishra, two persons including the Sub-Inspector, Bimal Kumar Kar and a middleman Santosh Das were arrested on Wednesday while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a person to settle a land dispute.

“We suspect involvement of the IIC in the corruption. However, the lady cop is absconding since then,” said Mishra.

Mishra further informed that the concerned IIC is not responding to the calls of the Vigilance department.

“The sub-inspector and the middleman have claimed that the IIC also had a share of Rs 15,000 in the entire episode. We will investigate her involvement in the case. As per the procedure, we will first serve a notice through the SP, so that the IIC deposes before the Vigilance,” Mishra added.
