Cuttack: In view of the rising COVID-19 cases, a complete shutdown has been ordered in Cuttack city. As per a notification issued by Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), the shutdown will remain in force till July 8 midnight.
Senior CMC Officials informed that all the non-essential shops will remain closed and non-essential travel will be completely prohibited. The order will come to effect from today.
However, all the essential shops like grocery, vegetable and milk shops will remain open from 5 AM to 6 PM. The essential shops will have to strictly abide by the COVID-19 guidelines and follow social distancing norms.

CMC officials informed that all the medicine stores and online delivery of essential commodities will be allowed during the shutdown period. Other emergency services like water and electricity supply will function as usual.
It is pertinent to mention here that there has been a spurt in COVID-19 cases reported from CMC area. Out of the 13 new COVID-19 cases reported from Cuttack district, 11 are from CMC area. The COVID-19 tally in Cuttack city has reached 116 including 92 active cases.
