Bhubaneswar: A case has been registered against an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer for allegedly abusing and thrashing a pet owner in Bhubaneswar following a quarrel over dog walking, on Wednesday.
The incident reportedly took place in Anandbazar lane in Sahid Nagar area in the capital city. Kalucharan Parida, the complainant, has lodged an FIR against IAS officer VV Yadav in this regard.
In his complaint, Parida, a Class IV employee in the Public Health department, alleged that the IAS officer lost his cool when the former was taking his pet for a walk in front of the latter’s residence in the morning hours.
“I always take my pet for a walk on that route. Today, when I was walking with my pet, all of a sudden Yadav yelled at me saying, ‘I told you earlier not to bring your pet in front of my gate’.” Parida alleged.
“I questioned if my pet caused any loss to him. Suddenly, he unleashed his pet dog at me. As I struggled to protect myself from the dog attack, Yadav kicked me and I fell down on the face,” Parida added.
Parida who suffered injuries to his right leg, just below the knee, was seen walking to the Sahid Nagar police station for lodging the complaint against the IAS officer.
When asked about the incident, Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash said, “We are looking into the matter.”
The IAS officer was unavailable for comments on the allegations against him.
