Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Department on Saturday predicted heavy rainfall in four districts of Odisha amid reports of showers in the coastal belt.

Besides, several parts of the State is likely to receive heavy rainfall till October 8 under the impact of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.

The MeT department has issued Yellow Warning for 12 districts apart from issuing the same warning for 16 districts till tomorrow (8:30 am).

The low-pressure area, which was over Northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, is now over Northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining coastal Odisha. It will have a slow moment and rainfall may continue for the next five to six days, said HR Biswas, director of Bhubaneswar MeT.

In the next 24 hours, all the districts of Odisha are likely to receive a certain amount of rainfall with a few places receiving heavy to very heavy rainfall, he said.

One or two places of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Rayagada, Gajapati, Bolangir, Bargarh, Boudh, Puri, Sonepur, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khordha, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara and Angul may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, Biswas added.
