Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha will experience heavy rainfall for the next three days, India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar predicted on Monday.

As per the latest weather forecast, yesterday’s Low Pressure Area over northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining Odisha coast with associated cyclonic circulation now extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of South Odisha and at many places over the districts of North Odisha in the next 24 hours, the met office informed.

Yellow Warning ( Valid upto 0830 hrs of October 6): Heavy rainfall is also likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur and Sonepur.

IMD further informed that a fresh low pressure area is very likely to form over north Andaman Sea and adjoining east Central Bay of Bengal around October 9.

The system is likely to move north-westwards towards north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts with gradual intensification into a Depression during subsequent 2-3 days. Under its influence, enhanced rainfall activity is likely in Odisha between October 11 and October 13, the met forecast said.
