Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar on Monday issued heavy rainfall warning for five Odisha districts in the next 24 hours.

As per the latest weather advisory, a fresh low pressure area is likely to form over central Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours which is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha in the next few days.

Moreover, yellow warning has been issued for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam and Gajapati districts which will experience heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.

Besides, thunderstorm and lightning are also likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada districts.

Day 1 ( Valid from 0830 hrs IST of October 20 upto 0830 hrs IST of October 21)

Light to moderate rain/ thundershower likely to occur at a many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and at a few places over the rest districts Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara.

Day 2 ( Valid from 0830 hrs IST of October 21 upto 0830 hrs IST of October 22)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at most places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Orange Warning (Be prepared): 1. Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Ganjam and Puri.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and Balasore.

Day 2 ( Valid from 0830 hrs IST of October 22 upto 0830 hrs IST of October 23)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at most places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning ( Be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati, and Kendrapada.
