Bhubaneswar: Incandescent at the way an Odia web channel has allegedly defamed her leading to cyberbullying, actress Prakruti Mishra on Wednesday lodged an FIR at the Mancheswar Police Station in Bhubaneswar seeking an investigation under IT Act/Indian Penal Code against the owner and other erring staff of the channel.

Levelling allegations of harassment and defamation, Prakruti in her complaint stated, "It has come to my notice that a website has been circulating propaganda for defamation of my public image. The said web channel, deliberately with evil intention dragged me to social media wrongfully creating and telecasting unethical stories in the electronics medium through their channels and thus I have now fallen prey to the cyberbullying. Further, it has led to disrespectful comments about my family and close ones."

"Deliberately and intentionally insulting me and my family is going to have an adverse effect on my career. Due to such derogatory acts by the unscrupulous people, we are receiving phone calls and being harassed by the people. This has put my parents under enormous psychological stress," she alleged in her complaint.

"My father is a famous singer and music director in the Odia industry. Being a professional artiste, my work includes acting and singing. I have worked in Ollywood, Bollywood and also in close association with the Odisha government."

Citing that endorsement and collaborations with different brands is a part of her work portfolio, the actress has demanded action against this alleged attempt of harassment and defamation by the concerned web channel.

"It is unlawful of the local news portal to circulate wrongful and misleading information about me or my family. The longer this propaganda of defamation and harassment continues it threatens to jeopardize my hard-earned reputation and most importantly my mental and psychological health," the actress added.
