Cuttack: The state government today told Odisha High Court that it would extend all cooperation if the court directs for a DNA test to identify the parents of the baby girl who has been lying unclaimed in SCB Medical College and Hospital here. In its counter affidavit in response to a writ petition pertaining to the matter, the government counsel told the high court that all hospital records indicate that the petitioner`s wife Rashmita Mallick had delivered the baby girl at 5.20 pm on March 30.

But the petitioner Susanta Mallick and his wife have refused to accept the baby girl claiming that a baby boy was born to them which was swapped by the hospital staff, the government affidavit said. The Division Bench of Chief Justice V Gopala Gowda and Justice S K Mishra however, allowing the contention of the petitioner directed that the parents who also had a baby boy born to them in the hospital around 5.10 pm on the same day should also be made parties in the case.
