Ganjam: The Ganjam district police probing the Purushottampur gold loot case claims to have achieved a major breakthrough following the arrest of 15 persons involved in the burglary.

As per reports, police have also succeeded in recovering 6.5 kilograms of gold ornaments looted from the house of a gold trader, Surendra Nath Nayak on October 12.

Today while addressing a press conference, DIG (Southern Range) Satyabrata Bhoi informed that it was a blind case and Ganjam police did a remarkable job to crack the case.

Divulging details, Bhoi said that one Kalia Behera was the mastermind of the case and he along with one Amit Behera and eight others had looted the gold ornaments from Nayak's (the businessman) house late at night when all the family members were asleep.

“We have arrested 15 persons including five buyers of the stolen gold ornaments. Our investigation is open as we suspect the accused have disposed some gold ornaments,” said Bhoi.
