Berhampur: Illegal gambling activities continued unabated in Ganjam district despite crackdown by police in regular interval. In the latest instance, Kabisuryanagar Police in the district busted a gambling den at Deogaon village and arrested seven persons on Saturday.

A sum of Rs 1,08,740 and mobile phones were seized during the raid, informed Ganjam SP.

"Kabisurya Nagar Police in Ganjam busted a gambling den at forest area near village Deogaon and arrested 07 gamblers with seizure of Cash Rs.1,08,740/," Ganjam SP tweeted.

Earlier on Friday, Berhampur police had arrested two persons and seized cash worth over Rs 33 lakh during a raid on an illegal IPL betting syndicate.

In the preliminary investigation into the IPL betting racket, Berhampur police found that the conduits were in close touch with bookies across major cities in the country as well as Dubai.

Similarly on October 24, the Ganjan police had busted 14 gambling dens and arrested 68 gamblers. A total of Rs 1,53,050 cash in cash, four mobile phones and four motorcycles were seized during the raids.
