Bhubaneswar: Coronavirus has now spread its tentacles to 26 districts in Odisha as Gajapati and Nabarangpur reported their maiden COVID-19 cases on Saturday. According to the Health and Family Welfare Department, 80 positive cases were reported in Odisha in the last 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 1269.

One case was detected in Nabarangpur, Gajapati reported four positives. With this, the active COVID-19 cases in the State has shot up to 826. While the State's death toll remains at seven, the total number of recoveries now stands at 436.

The total number of samples tested in the state so far is 118446.

Details of the 80 New COVID-19 Cases

Ganjam: 19 - 16 in quarantine centres; 15 Surat and 1 Maharashtra returnees; 3 local cases

Jajpur: 14 - All in quarantine centres; 8 West Bengal, 5 Andhra Pradesh and 1 Gujarat returnees

Balasore: 3 - All in quarantine centre; Surat returnees

Puri: 17 - All in quarantine centres; 11 Gujarat, 4 WB, 1 Andhra Pradesh & 1 Tamil Nadu returnees

Cuttack: 1 - In quarantine centre; Gujarat returnee

Sundergarh: 5 - All in quarantine centres; Maharastra returnees

Nayagarh: 5 - All in quarantine centres; 2 Surat, 2 Telangana and 1 West Bengal returnees

Bolangir: 1 - In quarantine centre; Telangana returnee

Malkangiri: 5 - 4 in quarantine centres; 3 Tamil Nadu, 1 Telangana and 1 local case

Kandhamal: 2 - All in quarantine centres; Telangana returnees

Jharsuguda: 3 - 2 in home quarantine and 1 in quarantine centre; 1 UP, 1 Maharashtra returnees and 1 local contact

Nabarangpur: 1 - In quarantine centre; Andhra Pradesh returnee

Gajapati: 4 - 1 in quarantine centre, Maharashtra returnee and 3 local contact cases

Out of the new COVID-19 patients, a total of 71 persons detected positive for the virus are in quarantine centers, two in home-quarantine and seven are local cases, informed the Health department.

The  80 new positives also include three cases from Jharsuguda- a one year old girl and a five-year-old boy from a family in Jharsuguda which is in home quarantine after returning from outside the State.

The other positive patient who tested positive for the virus is a 40-year-old male- a Maharashtra returnee and institutionally quarantined.

The new COVID-19 tally of the State also includes five new COVID-19 cases reported in Sundergarh. All the five persons are in quarantine centre since their return from Maharashtra.

Districts With COVID-19 Cases Details

Ganjam tops the COVID-19 list in Odisha with 341 cases. The district is followed by Jajpur 239, Balasore 128, Bhadrak 98, Khurda 74, Puri 65 and Cuttack 57 cases.

On Friday, 43 Covid-19 patients recovered and discharged in the State. Of  the total discharged, 15 were from Angul, eight each from Ganjam, Rourkela and Jajpur, one each from Puri, Kendrapara, Cuttack and Boudh.
