Paralakhemundi/Bhadrak: Worried over rising cases of COVID-19, Gajapati and Bhadrak district administration have announced lockdown in key areas of the districts from July 20 to July 31.

While, Gajapati announced lockdown in Paralakhemundi municipality, Kashinagar NAC and 11 gram panchayats in seven blocks, Bhadrak imposed lockdown restrictions in Bhadrak Municipality and Dhamnagar NAC areas.

According to a notification, the Gajapati district administration has ordered lockdown in Paralakhemundi municipality, Kashinagar NAC, Kerandi, Katalakaitha, Renipentha, Hadubangi, Arshyagada, Jhami, Karsasing, Narayanpur, K. Jhalarsing, Sabarapalli, Pindiki gram pachayats from 5 am of July 20 till the midnight of July 31.

“During this lockdown, all shops and commercial establishments and offices will remain closed and movement of people will be restricted. However, people will be allowed to buy groceries, milk, vegetables and other essential items from 7 am to 2 pm during the lockdown,” Gajapati collector Anupam Shah said.

The guidelines relating to lockdown shall be strictly enforced. Anyone violating the lockdown measures shall be prosecuted, the notification read.

However in Bhadrak, all commercial, private offices, establishments, shops will be open between 5 am and 1 pm on week days. But, weekend shutdown will continue during the lockdown, Bhadrak collector said.

Gajapati, so far, has reported 703 COVID-19 cases out of which 166 are active. While 534 people have recovered from the disease, the district registered three deaths.

Similarly, 322 COVID-19 cases have been detected in Bhadrak out of which 29 are active cases now. While 289 patients have recovered, the virus so far has claimed one life in the district.
