Bhadrak: Puruna Bazaar Police on Monday busted a fake chewing tobacco (Zarda) manufacturing factory at Pathan Mahala area of Bhadrak town.

Sources said that the total amount of the fake tobacco seized could be worth more than Rs 2 Lakh.

As per reports, the police conducted the raid at a house in Pathan Mahala following a tip-off that fake tobacco being allegedly stocked in there. Police seized logos of reputed tobacco manufacturers, tobacco leaves along with many equipments used to produce duplicate tobacco.

Though the owner of the house is reportedly absconding, police have detained another person in this connection.

Earlier in September, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police had unearthed fake tobacco manufacturing units on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar in Jatani and Balipatna areas and seized huge quantities of spurious tobacco which were reportedly being packed using counterfeit logos of several known companies.
