Bhubaneswar: After a series of crackdown on food adulteration units in Cuttack, a joint team of Airfield Police and Quick Action Team (QAT) on Tuesday busted a duplicate ghee manufacturing factory at Kaibalya Nagar in Sundarpada area here.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and QAT officials carried out a raid at the illegal factory and seized huge amount of adulterated ghee, machines and raw materials used to prepare the product.

Police are also investigating the supply chain and root of the illegal trade. Commissionerate Police had unearthed major adulterating manufacturing units and several other spurious food processing units in Cuttack area.

Be it duplicate tea, synthetic paneer, ghee and even edible oils, adulteration of several food items have continued to spread concerns in the Silver City.

Earlier on January 6, Cuttack Sadar police busted a duplicate tea manufacturing unit Mukameswar village.

A joint team of Twin City Police and food inspecting officials of CMC recovered more than one quintal of synthetic paneer from a bus during raid.

Apart from food items, police had also unearthed a series of fake cement manufacturing units in Jagatpur Industrial Estate.
