Bhubaneswar: The Shanti Stupa atop Dhauli hill in Bhubaneswar, which was shut since March due to Covid-19 pandemic, opened for public on Sunday. All the Covid-19 protocols will be strictly followed by the Dhauli authorities.

"We heard Dhauli was opened for public and therefore I have come with my family today. We were indoors since March," said a local resident of Bhubaneswar.

"Dhauli opened for visitors after a gap of seven months. I feel delighted to come for outing after a long time. I pray to Lord Jagannath that the situation becomes normal soon so that we can enjoy life like we used to do before the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic," said a resident of Kolkata who visited Dhauli with his family.

Meanwhile, the traders who have their shops outside the ancient monument claimed that only locals are visiting Dhauli and the number of tourists from outside the State is very low.

"The footfall of people from outside the State is very low. As tourist destinations are gradually opening, we hope our business will increase in the coming days," said a trader who was spotted cleaning his shop as the monument was thrown open to public from today.
