Bhubaneswar: The existing well marked Low Pressure area over east-central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression and lies centered over west-central Bay of Bengal, said the India Meteorological Department on Sunday.

The depression is likely to concentrate into a deep depression by tomorrow and cross north Andhra Pradesh coast during on the night of October 12, added the IMD.

Under its influence, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar predicted that several parts of South coastal Odisha will receive heavy rainfall from today.

Thunderstorm with lightning is expected to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Keonjhar.

Similarly, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Ganjam and Puri.

The weather department has predicted heavy rainfall for one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Rayagada, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri and Koraput tomorrow.

On October 13, Orange Warning has been issued for districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Puri and Koraput while yellow warning has been sounded for Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Bhadrak districts.

The Met Centre has also advised the fishermen not to venture into the deep sea of central Bay of Bengal from October 10 and those in deep sea have been advised to return to the coast immediately. Fishermen are also advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha Coast from October 11 to 13.
