Bhubaneswar: State Mass Education Department has decided to allow Diploma in Elementary Education (DELED) students to appear for examinations from their home districts.

According to the department sources, the candidates can apply through their District Institute for Education and Training (DIET) and get the privilege.

The students reportedly demanded for online examinations. However due to lack of proper infrastructure facilities the department has decided to conduct the examination in the home districts of the students. The examination will be conducted in compliance with Covid-19 norms.

“The students had some issues with the examination as their main problem was to get rented houses during this pandemic period. We have allowed them to appear for the examination from their own districts and they have gladly agreed,” stated School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash.

“Online examination was not feasible and there was also question mark about the sanctity of the examination. So we have taken a decision suitable for the students,” he added.

The examination will be conducted in 80 centres across the state and students can choose their own centres according to their convenience. Students could also appear for the examination in their own schools and they will be allowed to reside in the hostel or campus.

Very soon an official notification about the details of the examination will be issued, the department informed.
