Bhubaneswar:  With just a few days to go for the elections, senior BJP leader Damodar Rout's daughter Pritinanda Routray has withdrawn her nomination and announced that she will no more contest the 2019 polls.

According to sources, Pritinanda, who had filed nomination as an independent candidate from Bhubaneswar-North Assembly constituency, took the decision following delay in getting approval for election symbol.

Pritinanda stated that allotment of election symbol is getting delayed because she is an independent candidate. She further informed that it’s not possible to reach the voters and hold campaigns in all the areas of the constituency in just 8-9 days.

Meanwhile, the former Corporator of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation said that she has taken the decision after holding discussions with her supporters.

Earlier, on March 16, Pritinanda Routray has resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) citing personal reasons and had filed her nomination as an independent candidate later.
