Bhubneswar: Exodus from the ruling-BJD continues as Pritinanda Routray, daughter of senior BJP leader Damodar Rout, resigned from the party’s primary membership today.

In her resignation letter sent to Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik, Pritinanda said due to personal reasons she has quit the party. Meanwhile, the former corporator of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has not clarified which party she would join.

“Resigning from BJD is my personal decision. My mother is unwell and looking at my father’s condition, my conscience led me to take the decision,” said Pritinanda.

Asked whether she would join BJP, she clearly said there is no such thing. “There was no pressure from anyone. As I did not want to be under any pressure, I took the decision.”

“I had got enough scope in the party and worked for it accordingly. I have no complaints against the party,” she added.

Two days back, Pritinanda’s father and senior leader Damodar Rout had joined BJP whereas talks are doing rounds that her brother Sambit Routray is lobbying at Naveen Niwas for a BJD ticket from Paradip constituency.
