Bolangir: The Vigilance sleuths on Monday raided houses and property associated with one Jibadish Patra - a tracer engaged in the office of Special Planning Authority in Bolangir, on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Three teams of the anti-graft officials from Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Bolangir divisions conducted simultaneous searches at Patra's residence at Adarshapara, relative's house and office at College Square in Bolangir.
The Vigilance team also raided his paternal house at Sikabahenga village under Puintala block in the district.
Reports said the searches are being conducted under the supervision of Sambalpur Vigilance SP on the strength of search warrant issued by Special Vigilance Court, Bolangir.
Till the last reports were filed, the Bolangir Vigilance Inspector said unaccounted cash of Rs 1.47 lakh, gold ornaments, several land related documents, bank account passbooks and insurance documents have been recovered during the raids.
The exact amount of Patra's disproportionate assets will be known after the searches are over, said officials.
Patra, however, has refuted the allegations of possession of ill-gotten money.
Last week on the 17th, Vigilance officials arrested three engineers of Nabarangpur Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA)- Sarat Kumar Majhi, Baikuntanath Behera and Pramod Kumar Pradhan on charges of carrying unaccounted cash worth Rs 3 lakh in their official vehicle. They were travelling from Nabarangpur to Papadahandi with the cash, when they were intercepted by the sleuths of the anti-corruption agency.
