Bhubaneswar: Even as the Vigilance department on Saturday refused to seek further remand of suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak and his son Akash, senior officials informed that two teams are currently conducting further investigation outside Odisha in connection with the case.

Investigating officer of the case, Harishankar Pati today said the Vigilance department has found several evidences against the Pathaks during the course of investigation so far.

“We have got vital lead which will help us in the case. The IFS officer’s son Akash was not working with the Tata company as is being claimed by him,” said Pati.

“During their remand period, the Pathaks could not produce any credible evidence in their defence,” he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that both Abhay Kant Pathak and his son Akash were arrested recently and interrogated by vigilance officials during a three-day remand period.

Akash was arrested ahead of his marriage with expelled BJD MLA Pradeep Panigrahi’s daughter that was scheduled for December 11.

Akash has been accused of minting money allegedly by duping youths on the pretext of providing them jobs at Tata Motors.

Akash and his father had come under the vigilance scanner after they were reportedly seen hiring chartered flights to several parts of the country during the COVID-19 induced lockdown.
