Nabarangpur: Days after cyber crooks hacked Facebook accounts of some users in Koraput district to swindle money from their contacts, an similar online fraud has been reported from Nabarangpur this time.

Banka Bihari Bisoi, a local journalist in Nabarangpur, has fallen prey to conmen. The cyber fraudsters after breaking into Bisoi’s social media account chatted with his friends using Messenger app and sought monetary help from them.

“I was surprised when I learnt that my friends have been asked money through Messenger after hacking my Facebook account. I have lodged a complaint in this regard,” said Bisoi.

“Many unaware senior citizens are becoming victims of online fraud. The police must take action against online fraudsters as soon as possible,” said Laxmikanta Panda, the victim’s friend.

The reaction of police could not be obtained on the matter so far.

Recently, some Facebook users in Koraput had alleged that they have been duped by unknown people who hacked into their social media accounts.

The cyber fraudsters after getting access to the social media accounts had chatted with the friends of the persons seeking monetary help.

The conmen requested the social media friends to transfer money through online wallets or bank payment gateways.
