Some Facebook users in Koraput alleged that they have been duped by unknown people hacking into their social media accounts.

They have approached police alleging that their Facebook profiles were reportedly hacked and suspicious activities were done using the social media accounts.

As per the complaints, the cyber fraudsters after breaking into the social media accounts chatted with the friends of the persons seeking monetary help. The conmen requested the social media friends to transfer money through online wallets or bank payment gateways.

“Someone hacked my Facebook account and asked my friends to send money. He sent them messages in Hindi,” said B. Bhagaban Patra, a victim of the cyber fraud.

“My friends contacted me on Whatsapp after the hacker asked them to transfer money. The fraudster has asked them to transfer Rs 10,000 to Rs 20, 000,” alleged another complainant Sahadeb Patnaik.
