Jagatsinghpur: The resurgence of SARS-CoV2 and increasing trend of Covid-19 cases recently prompted the Odisha government to enforce night curfew and weekend shutdowns in several parts of the State.

In view of the government order issued on April 15, the Jagatsinghpur district administration has decided to promulgate prohibitory orders (curfew) under Section-144 of CrPC to restrict the movement of individuals, non-essential activities in Jagatsinghpur and Paradip Municipality limits and other market places under the NACs.

Prohibitory orders will also be clamped Raghunathpur market, Tarapur market, Jaipur market, Tirtol market, Rahama market and Kujang market of Jagatsinghpur district between 9 pm to 5 am from today.

It is pertinent to mention here that night curfew restrictions will come into effect in all urban areas across the State including Cuttack and Bhubaneswar from tonight. Apart from this, weekend shutdown has also begun in 10 districts- Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

The night curfew and weekend shutdown restrictions were announced in view of the steep rise in the Covid-19 cases in Odisha.
