Bhubaneswar: With an anticipation that Covid-19 vaccine may soon be available, the Odisha government has asked officials of the Women & Child Development department and Mission Shakti along with the concerned medical associations in the State for creation of a database of all health care workers (HCW) and anganwadi workers for Covid-19 vaccination.

In a letter to Indian Medical Association - Odisha State Branch, AYUSH Associations, Nursing Association, all Paramedic Workers Associations and Private Hospital Owners Association, the Additional Chief Secretary of the health department Pradipta Mohapatra stated that the central government has communicated regarding preparedness for introduction of new vaccine and creation of a data base of HCW in both government and private health facilities.

Mohapatra has asked the associations to communicate the same to the members so that they contact the Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, CDM and PHOs, ADPHO (FW) of their concerned districts for enrollment of all the healthcare workers in the database by October 29, 2020.

The senior bureaucrat has also written to the W&CD department and Mission Shakti in this connection. "It was instructed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that all Anganwadi workers, AWW Helpers, Supervisors and CDPOs will also be included in the database. A letter has already been communicated to all the Collectors and Municipal Commissioners to initiate this activity in priority. As per the latest instruction, the individual details of all AWWs, AWW Helpers, supervisors & CDPOs are to be included in the database, which will be uploaded in COVID-19 Vaccination Beneficiary Management System (CVBMS) subsequently," Mohapatra stated in his letter.

He has, therefore, requested the officials of W&CD department and Mission Shakti to communicate to all district ICDS teams for enrolling the details of above staff in the database in consultation with district and block officials by October 25, 2020.
