COVID-19 Spike: Odisha Govt Offices To Function With 50 Per Cent Staff
Bhubaneswar: In view of the rise in COVID-19 infections in Odisha, all the departments and sub-ordinate offices will now operate with 50 per cent staff, including Group-A officers in the month of July.
The departments can decide the manner of selection of employees who will attend office and those who have been provided with VPN may be allowed to work from home. All such employees shall be available to attend office work at short notice and on telephone at all times and those not attending offices shall stay indoors, a release from the General Administration department read.
The Health Department has also issued guidelines to be followed in offices:
Any staff if suffers from flu-like illness, shall not attend office and seek medical advice from 104 helpline. Such persons, if diagnosed as a suspect/confirmed case of COVID-19 should immediately inform the office authorities.
Those requesting home quarantine based on the containment zone activities in their residential areas should be permitted to work from home.
Government of Odisha guidelines with respect to organizing meetings, coordinating visitors shall be scrupulously followed.
Measures in case of occurrence of a case:
Place the ill person in a room or area where they are isolated from others at the work place. Provide a mask or face cover till he/she is examined by a doctor and inform 104 Helpline immediately.
Existing guidelines and procedures of the State Health department shall be followed.
Closure of workplace:
In case of detection of COVID-19 positive cases, the disinfection procedure will be limited to places/areas visited by the patient in the past 48 hrs. There is no need to close the entire office building and work can be resumed after disinfection as per the norms.
However, if there is a larger outbreak, the entire building will have to be closed for 48 hours after thorough disinfection and the staff shall work from home till the building is adequately disinfected.
Basic preventive measures at work places:
The basic preventive measures includes simple public health measures that are to be followed to reduce the risk of infection with COVID-19.These measures need to be observed by all (employees and visitors) at all times.
Physical distancing of at least six feet to be maintained.
Use of face covers or masks is mandatory.
Practice frequent hand washing (for at least 40-60 seconds) even when hands are not visibly dirty and use of alcohol based hand sanitizers (for at least 20 seconds).
Respiratory etiquette to be strictly followed. This involves strict practice of covering one’s mouth and nose while coughing/sneezing with a tissue/handkerchief/fixed elbow and disposing off the used tissues properly.
Self-monitoring of health by alt and reporting any illness at the earliest.
