Phulbani: In view of the arriving winter and as a safety measure to check the spread of Covid-19 infection in the region, the Kandhamal district administration on Wednesday announced that all tourist destinations and picnic spots in the district will remain out of bounds for people till November 30, 2020.

However, resorts belonging to the tourism department will remain open for the visitors.

The district administration have assigned all the Tehsildars-cum-Executive Magistrates as nodal officers who will ensure zero movement of tourists and gathering of local people in the tourist/picnic places for feast, picnic or any other reason.

"Regular enforcement should be conducted jointly by EMs and IICs of local police station in these areas and appropriate action will be initiated against the violators," read the official notification issued by the Kandhamal district administration yesterday.

The total Covid-19 caseload in Kandhamal district stood at 5,714 till November 4 which include 106 active cases while 31 patients died while undergoing treatment and 5,577 have recovered so far.

Worth mentioning, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik yesterday said that the State may witness the second wave of Covid-19 infection after mid-December.
