Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said that there will be no relaxations in restrictions on celebration of Diwali this year as there is every likelihood that the State may witness the second wave of Covid-19 infection after mid-December.

While taking stock of the Coronavirus situation in the State, the CM said that strict enforcement of the pandemic restrictions is necessary to avoid the second wave of infection and further lockdown.

Patnaik further directed district collectors and SPs to ensure strict enforcement of Covid norms.

He also asked observers to make visits to districts in order to oversee the implementation of restrictions put in place in view of upcoming Diwali festival.

The CM expressed happiness over declining rate of infection and rising recovery rate in the State.
