Bhubaneswar: The Odisha BJP State president Samir Mohanty has been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here after he tested positive for novel coronavirus.

Taking to Twitter, Mohanty shared his health update and said his condition is stable. Moreover, the saffron party leader requested all those who might have come in contact with him in the past few days to isolate themselves and undergo tests if necessary.

"Due to symptoms of Corona, I went for the test and found positive. I am doing well, but as per the advice of doctors I got hospitalized and under treatment. I request to all who have come in contact with me in past few days to kindly isolate and conduct test if necessary," Mohanty tweeted.

So far more than 15 MLAs in Odisha have tested positive for the virus. In July, BJP MLA from Nilgiri, Sukanta Kumar Nayak, became the first legislator in the coastal State to test positive for the virus.

After him, BJD MLAs Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Bishnubrata Routray, Susant Rout, Ananta Narayan Jena, Bikram Panda, Byomakesh Ray, Debi Prasad Mishra, Pritam Padhi, Sanjib Mallick, Sunanda Das, Srikant Sahu, Sudhanshu Shekhar Parida, Prasanta Muduli , Prasant Behera and Bhagirathi Sethy tested positive for the virus.

Ramesh Majhi , BJD MP from Nabarangpur, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP MP Suresh Pujari from Bargarh and BJD MP Manjulata Mandal from Bhadrak were also diagnosed with the disease.
